#BeautiesOnFire – “To love the earth is our desire”

It’s time again for another #BeautiesOnFire post, you voted on Twitter and decided that our theme for this week would be elements! Firstly, if you’re unsure as to what this whole #BeautiesOnFire thing is (where have you been hiding?) then please feel free to check out my introduction post below, additionally you may peruse the past themes.

Earth, wind, fire and air.. We may look bad but we don’t care, we ride the wind we feel the fire, to love the earth is our desire! You may recognise these lyrics from a childhood memory, though if not you can find a video below of this genius creation regardless. Yes, it is indeed the Hex Girls, those three seriously cool Wiccans from Scooby Doo. Since it’s soon Halloween I felt it only right to focus my elements post on these kick ass ladies.

Of course this misses out another of the elements – water, not that it matters for this specific post, as I’ll be putting focus on Thorn, Dusk and Luna. My aim with this were for these looks to be portraying the ‘sexy’ Halloween kind of vibe. Thorn’s look is by far the most subtle, only appearing to be wearing red lipstick – so I paired this with a simple cat eye and added glitter to give my lipstick a little more wow! Red coloured contacts would look great with this for the more committed person and of course some cosmetic blood dripping from the mouth. Dusk involves an unreal amount of black eye make-up and a green lip colour so I set to work on making the eyes as dark and smoky as possible with a hint of green in the inner lid and completing with a plentiful amount of smudged out eyeliner under the waterline and along the waterline itself. I don’t own a green lipstick so this presented me with the perfect opportunity to use eyeshadow for my lip colour for the first time, using a black eyeliner to line and define and creating a gradient. To really add your own touch to this look you could create a green and blue scaled contour using netting in order to turn yourself into a mermaid or other mystical sea creature! In contrast to the other girls Luna has a darker skin, meaning I were able to bring back my beloved contour routine and beautiful berry toned autumnal colours. I used light purple tones to keep the eyeshadow more muted like Luna’s is but then used a little liner to achieve the cut crease look that I wanted, with the lips being where the intensity really steps up with full colour in various purple tones. The girl’s hair is really straight forward, sleek and straight for Thorn, cute high pigtails for Dusk and voluminous teased locks for Luna. Add a witches hat, fangs or claws and slash marks to really bring these looks to life.
