You may have noticed a break in the #BeautiesOnFire collaboration last week, the reason of which I explained in my replacement post ‘How to get the best from a pre-Christmas treat’, but this week we’re back and I’m channelling my inner Cruella DeVille, for no particular reason other than this is the first thing that I thought of fitting to the theme. Of course, aside from Harry Potter quotes. Rather than copying Cruella’s make-up with the green eyes and such I instead created an opposites look for the eyes and finished off with a red lip. So, lets take a look at the products I used, then maybe learn a thing or two about how using light and dark products on different areas of the face can completely change an overall look. Also yes, I indeed have a wig on with extensions plonked on the top ha ha!
Max Factor Face Finity 3 in 1 Foundation – Beige 55
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – Fair 1
Bourjois Bronze & Highlight Duo – 55
George Silk Finish Pressed Powder – No 01 Translucent
Make-Up Revolution London Mono Eyeshadow – Delicious
Make-Up Revolution London Baked Highlighter – Golden Lights
Make-Up Revolution London Eyes Like Angels Palette – Shades: White Light, Silver Dream, Silver Star & Black Stars
Bourjois Liner Feutre – 11 Noir
P.S, Love Kohl Liner – Black
Rimmel Kohl Liner – 071 Pure White
Model’s Own Hyper Eyes Mascara
P.S, Love Carbon Black Mascara
Avon Spectrum 100 Lipstick – Russet
Remember dark colours are thinning whilst light plumps, so:
* Use contour for the areas of the face you’d like to be thinner
* Highlight only the points where the light would naturally hit your face
* Use a white liner on the waterline to make your eyes appear larger
* Use a lighter shade concealer to reduce the appearance of under eye circles and darkness and please use the triangle method!
* For a perfect pout darken the inner corners whilst using a lighter shade in the middle of the lip, or applying a white base underneath.
* Using a white base will emphasise any colour; eyeshadows, lips and even nails.
Please do check out the other girl’s take of this weeks theme, you can find the link up over on Beth’s blog. Is your personality more dark, light or a perfect balance? What are your favourite dark and light make-up hacks? Finally, “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light” – Albus Dumbledore.
